1. Voluntary Participation & Assumption of Risk
I, the undersigned, understand that my participation in the Journey Inwards retreat at Hackhurst Farm is entirely voluntary. I acknowledge that the retreat involves physical activities (including dynamic yoga, movement, and breathwork) and exposure to extreme heat (wood-fired sauna) which carry inherent risks of injury, physical stress, or discomfort. I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown.
2. Health & Medical Condition
I confirm that I am in good physical health and have no medical condition, injury, or illness that would make my participation unsafe.
I understand it is my responsibility to consult a physician prior to participating if I have any health concerns, including but not limited to: cardiovascular conditions, high/low blood pressure, epilepsy, respiratory issues, or pregnancy.
I agree to listen to my body at all times, practice within my own limits, and immediately cease any activity if I feel pain, dizziness, or discomfort.
3. Sauna Use & Safety Regulations (At Own Risk)
I acknowledge that the use of the wood-fired sauna is entirely at my own risk. I agree to strictly adhere to the following safety guidelines for my own wellbeing and the safety of the group:
Time Limit: To prevent overheating and dehydration, I agree to limit my continuous time inside the sauna to no more than 10 minutes per session, followed by an adequate cooling-off period.
Hydration: I will ensure I drink plenty of water before, during, and after my sauna session.
Prohibitions: I will not enter the sauna under the influence of alcohol, medication, or any substances that may impair my judgment or physical reaction to heat.
Immediate Exit: If I experience dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, or any discomfort, I will exit the sauna immediately.
4. Release of Liability
In consideration of being permitted to participate in this retreat, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless the event organizers (Tamara Klien / MADRE, Amanda Denton, and David Ramcharran), as well as Hackhurst Farm and its staff, from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of any loss, damage, personal injury, or illness (including death) that may be sustained by me, or to any property belonging to me, while participating in the retreat or using the facilities.
5. Photographic Release
I understand that photographs or videos may be taken during the day for future marketing purposes by MADRE.
